Sejak pertangahan September 2011, beredar isyu rencana Kawasaki Indonesia meluncurkan Ninja 150 RR facelift. Ketika dicek kepada Freddyanto Basuki, Kepala Pemasaran Nasional, PT Kawasaki Motor Indonesia (KMI), jawabannya cukup menarik! Dijelaskan, kini KMI sedang finalisasi untuk meremajakan tampilan Ninja 150 RR di Indonesia. Meski hanya menganti "baju", KMI harus mengajukan hal ini ke prinsipal.

"Saya mau berangkat ke Jepang untuk mengajukan (desain baru) ke prinsipal. Sampai sekarang masih dites. Perlu melewati berbagai uji coba sebelum bisa diproduksi secara massal," jawab Freddy.
Saat ini, Indonesia satu-satunya negara yang memproduksi Ninja 150 dan 150 RR di dunia. Dengan demikian, semua pengembangan produk dilakukan oleh KMI atas persetujuan prinsipal. "Mengubah bentuk sepatbor saja harus melalui tes ketahanan, paling kurang 10.000 km," lanjut Freddy.

PRJ 2012Freddy melanjutkan, keputusan KMI baru diperoleh Januari atau Februari. Sedangkan persiapan produksi dilakukan April atau Mei 2011. "Jika prinsipal setuju dan mendapat dukungan dari pemasok komponen, produksi bisa dikebut," lanjut Freddy.

Arena Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) pada Juni 2012 dipercaya Freddy menjadi ajang yang tepat untuk peluncuran Ninja 150 RR. Sedangkan harga jual, kemungkinan naik (sekarang Rp33 juta on the-road Jakarta). “Besarannya belum tahu. Paling tinggi sekitar Rp500.000 atau di bawah Rp1 juta," tutup Freddy.
